Spin Rate
The SIQ smart ball measures how quickly the ball rotates during the shooting trajectory.
Having enough backspin on your shot is important because it increases the success probability of your shots in two ways: First, the backspin slows the ball down as it hits the rim, making it more likely to bounce into the hoop. Second, it bends the trajectory of the ball, increasing the entry angle and making the hoop appear larger.
To work on your spin rate during a shooting session, turn the phone to “SCOREBOARD MODE” (horizontal) and swipe left three times to the “SPIN RATE” metric. Begin shooting and keep an eye at your spin rate to get a feel for the metric. Then focus specifically on the wrist snap and follow through elements of your shot to see how they affect the spin rate. Try to get all of your shots above 2.0 RPS.
